Minerva Biodiesel
Minerva Biodiesel transforms beef processing by-products into renewable energy through 100% Brazilian technology developed in partnership with leading Brazilian universities. The operation adds value across the production chain, promotes the efficient use of resources, strengthens Minerva Foods’ circular economy model, and reinforces the Company’s commitment to sustainability.
The biodiesel produced by the Company is certified under the Social Fuel Seal, a Brazilian government certification that recognizes companies committed to social inclusion through the purchase of raw materials from family farmers, contributing to sustainable rural development and income generation.
Production is primarily based on beef tallow, a by-product of the beef processing operations supplied by Minerva Foods’ facilities in Brazil and partner suppliers. The process also incorporates recovered oils and other vegetable oil and fat sources, including soybean, cottonseed, and corn oils, maximizing resource efficiency and reducing waste.
Located in Palmeiras de Goiás, Goiás State, Brazil, the Minerva Biodiesel facility has the capacity to produce up to 450 cubic meters of biodiesel per day, equivalent to 162,000 cubic meters annually. The expansion of the operation helps increase the supply of renewable biofuels in the Brazilian market while supporting the country’s decarbonization goals for its energy matrix.
Since 2021, Minerva Biodiesel has participated in RenovaBio, Brazil’s National Biofuels Policy, and is certified to issue Decarbonization Credits (CBIOs), reinforcing its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The operation is also certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), a globally recognized standard that verifies sustainability, traceability, and responsible practices throughout the production chain. This certification strengthens the Company’s access to international markets and reaffirms Minerva Foods’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and value creation across its entire business ecosystem.
